Hungarian (Magyar) is spoken by some 10 million people in Hungary and there are also sizable populations of Hungarian speakers in Romania, the Czech and Slovak Republics, the former Yugoslavia, Ukraine, Israel and the US.
Although Hungary is located in Central Europe, Hungarian is not related to any of the languages of the countries that surround it. This is one of the reasons that Hungarian is often considered one of the most difficult European languages for English speakers to master.
Hungarian is one of the 23 official languages of the EU. Many of our Hungarian learners are professionals who are now engaged in business with Hungary and set store by being able to communicate with their customers in their own language.
Our Hungarian trainers are all native speakers of Hungarian, qualified teachers and university graduates. Although Hungarian is a difficult language to master, they are experts in making the language accessible and in providing our course participants with a good foundation in the culture and business practices of Hungary. Whether beginner or advanced level, every course will be highly practical and designed to build fluency and spontaneity in using spoken Hungarian in meetings, on the telephone and in social situations.
Over the past year, we have prepared a number of trainee lawyers for secondment to Budapest; we have assisted a newspaper journalist with his preparation for a transfer to Hungary and we have trained a group of engineers with no previous knowledge of the language to a survival level.
